Knowledge and Understanding- Wash Day

We have been finding out about a wash day in the past.
We had a wash day in school and used scrubbing boards and brushes to wash and clean clothes and other objects.

It was a lot of hard work but lots of fun too!

We compared the past with the present and we talked about how washing has changed. We used our ICT skills to put the stages of a wash day in the correct order. We also drew the stages in our books.

Creative Development - Snowflake Dance

Snowflake Dance- We moved to the music as a snowflake. We had to swirl and twirl gently and slowly. We remembered to change direction and form into a snow ball when the music stopped.

We watched the videos in class and evaluated our performances. What did we do well? What do we need to improve for next time?

Creative Development - Snow White Dance

Our focus in dance this week was to 'halt'.
We warmed up and practiced halting by marching to Men of Harlech.
We then created a dance together using this week's fairytale
'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' as a stimulus. We had to listen
carefully to the music to know when our actions should change.

Creative Development - Snowflake Dance

Last week in dance we listened to a poem about a snowflake, and talked about the recent snowy weather! Using this as inspiration, we thought about how a snowflake would travel - gently, slowly, quietly, softly, swirling. We danced like a snowflake to Aled Jones' Walking in the Air.

We then thought about our ending, as we landed on the ground, and decided that we would continue the snowflake's journey by creating a snowball. We decided to begin our dance by moving on the spot, then get gently carried by the wind and begin to travel.

The three little pigs

Our story last week was The Three Little Pigs, and we were
very busy doing lots of different activities.

We used potato stamps and different materials to
create pictures of the three little pigs and their houses.

We had fun re-telling the story by putting on puppet shows.

We created characters from the story using playdough.

In our small world area we had the three main materials
from the pigs' houses - bricks, sticks and straw.

We worked together to create our own story of
The Three Little Pigs using the laptop and interactive whiteboard.
