Gymnastics

This term during indoor PE sessions the children have been following the PESS gymnastics program.  They are becoming confident to move in different ways using different parts of the body.  They have learnt how to travel as a fox, bunny and frog which has encouraged the children to transfer body weight from hands to feet as they travel.

Our 5 senses - Hearing

This week the children played a sound lotto game in small using the listening station.  They were encouraged to listen carefully and guess the sound.

Our 5 senses - Taste

Our crisp tasting activity proved very popular!  Children were asked to taste 5 different flavours of crisp and record in table what they thought the flavour was.

Our 5 senses - Touch

The children really enjoyed touching a range of objects with their eyes shut and guessing what they were.  They were encouraged to describe what they could feel.  This activity generated some fabulous adjectives.

Our 5 senses - Smell

We have been discovering about our sense of smell.  We played a smelling game, where we had to try and name the smell.  We smelt things such as pepper, lavender, vinegar and lemon.  We talked about smells we liked and did not liked using welsh - Dw'in hoffi.... and Dw'in ddim yn hoffi...

We had geat fun this week painting without using paint! We used mustard, jam, gravy, mint sauce, coffee, custard, honey and beetroot juice to see if we could make pictures that would smell!
