Bake for Bobath

Thursday was a busy day as we baked cakes and biscuits to sell for the charity Bobath, a children's therapy centre in Cardiff. The cake sale was on Friday.  A big thank you to everyone who donated or made cakes and came along to show their support.  We made a fantastic £325!!

The children also worked hard at home with mums and dads to decorate a cupcake to enter into our decorating competition. Mr Abel came into school to help judge the competition. It was very closely fought with all entries being of a very high standard.

Mathematical Development - positional Language

This week we enjoyed using the 'beebot'  to practise giving and following instructions using directional vocabulary.

Knowledege and Understanding of the World - Holidays in the past

We wrote questions to ask Mrs Pearce about the holidays she went on when she was a little girl.  Then Mrs Pearce came in to school and we interviewed her using the questions we had written.  We found that some things were very similar to our own holidays but some things were very different!

Creative Development - Clay Dragons

Following the work on story characters the children designed and created their own dragon, which they made from clay and then painted.

Mother's Day

The children wrote about their mum and why they love them so much.  Then they typed their work  onto the computer and showed their skills by using the mouse or whiteboard pen to draw a picture.  The work was used to create Mother's Day cards and accompanied a small pot that had been hand decorated.

World Book Day

To celebrate World Book Day the children and staff dressed as a character from a book.  In Year 1 we had a ' book swap shop ' where the children could bring in a book to swap for another one.  We enjoyed looking at the books and choosing a new one.

 'Swap Shop'

Some Year 6 children came into Year 1 to read and act out stories to us.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World - The Pond

This week we discovered our school pond was full of frogspawn.  We are going to keep a close eye on what happens next!
