Knowledge and Understanding - Researching Materials

We have been finding out about materials. We worked in groups and used information books, fact finding sheets and the Internet to find out about our chosen material.

We found pictures of objects that are made from metal and other materials.

We worked as a group and discussed our ideas.

Creative Development / Home Task

Thank you for all your hard work on this week's home task. The children have worked very hard on their creations. We have displayed the children's work in the Infant Hall.

Language, Literacy and Communication

Matching capital letters and lower case letters.

Some children used the dictionary to find a word and their definition.

We used our ICT skills to match capitals and lower case letters.

We each had a capital letter and we matched it with the correct lower case letter on the carpet.

Knowledge and Understanding - Homes Survey Using ICT

We went on a walk around Pontyclun and we carried out a 'homes survey'. We looked for different types of houses and we drew pictures of what we found. We made tally charts for the types of houses and the colour of doors that we found.

We used our ICT skills by taking photographs and videos of our findings using the Tuff Cam and the digital camera.

Here are some photographs that the children took using the digital camera.

Here are some photographs of different types of houses and doors that the children took using the Tuff Cam.

We found bungalows.

We found terraced houses.

We took videos using the Tuff Cam of the different types of houses we found in Pontyclun. Which is the most common type of house? What is the most common door colour?

Creative Development- Mirroring in Dance

We have continued with last week's theme- 'The Princess and the Frog' as our story stimulus. We have been practising mirroring with a partner. We moved as a frog and transformed into a Prince and danced with the Princess. Do we change direction? Do we show change of speed?

We watched the videos taken with the Tuff Cam in class and we evaluated our performances.

Language, Literacy and Communication

We have been re-telling stories and re-writing story endings. We use story writing mats to help us use connectives, punctuation, sentence openeners and 'exciting' words.

Creative Development

This week we have been painting our clay character models. We chose the appropriate brushes and colours to paint our models. Once we painted them we decided to display them all in the class for everyone to see!

Lots of concentration!

We're proud of all our hard work!
