L,L & C - Using a Dictionary

We worked with our Talking Partners to find different letters and words in the dictionary.
Some children created their own minibeast dictionaries.

It was great fun looking for words in the dictionary!

Creative Development / ICT - Spiders!

We used the 'Digi Blue' to look at spiders on the plasma.
We observed how the spider can move and we looked at the detail on its body.
We could see the differently shaped body parts of the spider and its hairy legs!

We drew a detailed picture of the spider.

Beautiful Butterflies!

Our little caterpilars have finally turned into beautiful butterflies!
We went out to the pond area to let them all go.
Some of them were still a bit sleepy, but they eventually flew away!

Language, Literacy and Communication

We were put into 4 teams for a rhyming words game!
We had lots of words with initial blends to read and then we had to work quickly as a team to find them.

Here are the two winning teams!

Language, Literacy and Communication

We made 'initial blends wheels' and then used them to make lists of words.
Can you think of a 'gr' word?

Knowledge and Understanding - Observing Plants

Our beans have been growing over the last week and we have been outside to observe them.
We have found changes in our plants and we recorded our observations in a table.
We also used a ruler to measure the height of the stems.

Language, Literacy and Communication - Telling a Story

We planned and wrote a story using the same story structure as 'The Very Lazy Ladybird'.
Some children wrote their story on the computer using 2Simple and some children answered 'What am I?' questions and directed Bee Bot to the correct minibeast on the mat.
We worked very hard on our stories!
We remembered to use alliteration and time connectives too!
We took it in turns to act out our stories in groups.
At the end of the day we watched the performances by the pond area.
The stories and acting were fantastic!

Mathematical Development - Number Bonds

We have been finding pairs of numbers that total up to 7, 8, 9 and 10.
Then we used our number bonds knowledge to answer addition and subtraction questions.
