Children in Need

Children in Need was a fantastic day in Year 1.  We enjoyed lots of Pudsey themed activities, including dressing Pudsey on the computer, decoarting Pudsey biscuits and a Pudsey colouring competition.  We also had a fabulous Children in Need assembly where we were lucky enough to meet Pudsey.  He even presented Callum and William with their merit awards!

Lots of Money was raised.  A big thank you to everybody for your generous support.

Diwali

This week Hindu's celebrate Diwali, so in Year 1 we have been finding out more about this celebration.

We decorated glass jars to make our own Diwali lights.

We made Diwali cards.

We used chalks to create Rangoli patterns.

We drew around our feet, cut them out and decorated them.  During Diwali footprints are used to encourage the goddess Lakshmi into houses.

Using condensed milk and cocoa powder we made Diwali sweets called Barfi.  Sweets are shared with family and friends during the celebration.

We heard the story of Rama and Sita and enjoyed re-telling it with our friends.

We thought carefully about Diwali and wrote what we had learnt.
