St.Davids Day

March 1st was St Davids Day.  We all dressed up and took part in the Eisteddfod.  Everyone did well and it was a shame we couldn't all win!

Competition Winner Photos to follow shortly!

Creative Development - St Davids Day

We looked carefully at daffodils and made observational Drawings.
Look at the daffodils we made using card and old egg boxes.

We looked at the Welsh dragon and other dragons from stories.  Then we designed and painted our own dragon.

Personal and Social Development - Feeling Proud

The children have been listening to stories about children who feel proud because of their differenet achievements.  We then thought about ourselves and why we feel proud.

Physical Development -Myths and Legends

During our PE session the children enjoyed 'Myths and Legends'.  They had to plan how they would escape from a nasty dragon who had captured them and locked them in the dungeon of a castle.  They worked in pairs and used the apparatus very imaginatively.  The work we did in this PE session will help the children to think about their own story ideas during creative writing sessions.

Language, Literacy and Communication - Story Writing

This week we have been reading "The Paper Bag Princess".  We worked in small groups to sequence the story using pictures and enjoyed re-telling it orally to the rest of the class.

We know that all stories should have a beginning, middle and end.  We made a story plan to help us write the story.  The stories were judged for our Eisteddfod competition.  Everyone did very well!

We had fun acting out the story with the castle.

Knowledge and Understanding of the World - Home task

During February half term the boys and girls worked very hard on their air transport home task.
Once back in school the children enjoyed 'being teacher' telling the other children the facts they
had found.

The children then chose their favourite form of air transport and drew and wrote what they had learnt about it.

Shrove Tuesday

On Shrove Tuesday we found out about how it all began and why we eat pancakes on this day.  Making the pancakes was fun, but eating them was better!

For the filling we chose from lemon, sugar, chocolate sauce, syrup and bananas.  We practised asking each other what we liked in Welsh.
 " Beth wyt ti'n hoffi?"
