We have been spelling ing, ang, ong and ung words. We worked with our talking partners and made lists of words. We read and sorted words into groups. Can you think of an ang word?
We hope this blog will give an insight into what is happening in and around Year 1 in our school. It is a site for all pupils, parents and governors.

Mathematical Development- Describing Position
We described the position of each other when we sat in the grid. What is above the red triangle? What is below? What shape is to the left? right? We used our ICT skills to programme BeeBot to move in the grid.
Knowledge and Understanding - Transparent, Translucent or Opaque?
We looked at different materials and sorted them into groups. We discussed whether they were transparent, translucent or opaque. Can you find a material that is translucent?

Mathematical Development -Addition Facts
We have been thinking about pairs of numbers that 5, 6 and 7. We worked with our talking partners and wrote number sentences on the whiteboards. We used our knowledge to answer different addition questions and we also used the computer to practise our addition skills.
We each had a number sentence to put on the correct answer mat.

Creative Development- Clay Models
We made clay models of the characters from the fairytale, 'The Princess and the Frog'.
We moulded and shaped the clay to create our characters.
Creative Development - Yr 1 All Stand Together
This week we have been reading 'The Princess and the Frog'. We used the story as a stimulus to move like a frog and transform into a Prince. We created a sequence of actions with high and low movements, change of speed and change of direction. We changed into the Prince and imagined that we were dancing with the Princess by twirling and swirling across the ballroom.
Dancing with the Princess.
How high or low can you jump?
