Entrepreneurial skills

We used our entrepreneurial skills to plan and make choices. We planned a holiday and made choices about how we would get there and what we would pack. Some children used their ICT skills by using the microphone to ask each other questions. Some children decided to draw a map of their journey to their holiday destination. Creative Development- Dance

We made shaking movements with different parts of our body. When the music stopped we made our bodies into a mould. We told our partners what they did well and what they need to improve for next time. Are you changing direction? Are you shaking all the parts of your body?

Communication Skills

We made a list of words with different digraphs. Then we asked each other to sound out different words. Some children used the microphone to ask each other questions about the different digraphs. Can you think of words that have the oa sound?

Creative Development - Making Cakes

This week we have made cakes to celebrate birthdays. We read the story 'Happy Birthday Blue Kangaroo' and we talked about how we celebrate birthdays. We followed instructions on how to bake a cake, then we iced and decorated them with sprinkles!

Communication Skills: Hot-Seating

Today, we read the story, 'Happy Birthday Blue Kangaroo'. We re-told the story to our talking partners. Then we talked about how Blue Kangaroo felt in the story. We used our thinking skills to ask Kangaroo questions. We also wore the wizard's cloak to re-tell the story. Below, one child re-told the beginning of the story.

Mathematical Development Display

We use this display to help us remember number facts to 6.

Using Money

This week, we are celebrating birthdays. We went to the shop and used our prior skills and knowledge from our number lesson and we bought the ingredients that we need to make cakes. We chose the correct coins to pay for our items and then we walked back to school.

Knowledge and Understanding- Lighting our Homes

We've been finding out about homes in the past. We put houses in order from oldest to modern. Then we discussed with our talking partners about how we light our homes today. We cut and sorted pictures into our books. Can you think of something that uses electricity at home? Have we always used electricty in our homes?

Mathematical Development and ICT Skills

We used our ICT skills to match coins to their labels. We then sorted coins in order of value by using our number skills.

Mathematical Development- Coin Recognition

We have been learning to recognise coins up to £2. We went on a coin hunt and found different coins. We sorted our coins and matched them to the correct price tag. We use our ICT skills to direct Bee Bot to the correct coin on the mat. We played a game called 'what am I?' and our partners had to guess which coin we were. We made 'cakes' and 'pizza' and sold the food to children in the class. Which coin should we use to pay for the pizza if it costs £1? Which other coins can we use to make £1?
