We had also spent a lot of time creatively decorating our hard boiled eggs, and had great fun rolling our eggs and cheering on our friends.
We hope this blog will give an insight into what is happening in and around Year 1 in our school. It is a site for all pupils, parents and governors.

Easter Bonnet and Egg Rolling
A big thank you to parents and other people who helped us to make our Easter bonnets - they all looked fabulous and it was clear a lot of effort had gone into making them.

Easter Cooking
We were all keen to become chefs and bake easter biscuits. We looked at the recipe to check the amounts of each ingredient, and used weighing scales to weigh each. After mixing and rolling, we chose our Easter shapes. Once they were baked we had lots of fun icing them. They were delicious...even if some bunnies were missing body parts by home time!

Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant Hapus!
We celebrated St David's Day with a whole school EIsteddfod. We enjoyed watching the competitions and finding out who won the handwriting, story writing and art prizes in Year 1.
Shrove Tuesday
We celebrated Shrove Tuesday by making pancakes. We worked together and followed the recipe instruction cards. The best part was getting to choose our topping and eating them!
Jack and the Beanstalk
We have been doing lots of work on traditional tales. We have focused on Jack and the beanstalk as our topic is about the garden.
We have read lots of different versions of the story which we enjoyed sequencing.
Then we planted our own beans. We are keeping a diary to monitor its growth. We hope we will have beanstalks growing too!
